Why are folks saying that the Giants are playing a must win game in Philly against the Eagles in WEEK 2? The Giants lost a non-conference game to the Colts last week. The NFC East plays the AFC South this year. This inter-conference matchup means the Giants also play the Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans and Houston Texans. Last week, the Eagles beat the Houston Texans. Later this year, the Eagles will have to play the Colts. If the Giants lose a division game on the road, it’s not a big deal. They need to win the division games at home. If the Giants can win home division games and defeat the Titans and Texans, they’ll have 6 wins. They’ll need only four or five more wins to get into the playoffs.
This week’s game against the Eagles is simply not that big of a deal. Two or three years ago, the New England Patriots opened the season 0-2 and made it to the Super Bowl. I’m not suggesting this Giant team is as good as that Patriot team, but everyone associated with the franchise believes this is a Super Bowl team.
Relax…take it easy…enjoy the season.
